About Me

Hi and welcome to Pardon Me, My Crown Slipped.

So who am I, who is the Woman Under the Crown?

I am no longer the caregiver to my Grammie who passed away in April 2017.

I have left the description below since all the great content from before is still here 🙂

Are you raising kids AND taking care of elderly parents or grandparents?

Are you dealing with the stress of taking care of everyone but you?

Part of the Sandwich Generation?

Are you trying to juggle it all?

Wondering how long you can keep going before something’s gotta give?

I’ve been there!

I was caregiving 24/7 for my grandmother who had dementia and for the last few months was completely bedridden. Raising 3 kids. Taking care of a home. Maintaining a marriage. All while supposed to be taking care of myself and not doing a very good job of any of it. Or so it felt.

This went on for over two years. Once my grandmother passed away. I still struggled to feel right.

Just when I thought (and sometimes still think), that I was juggling all the balls, I would realize that one or more had dropped and kicked under the couch.

Thus this blog was born. ( I was still caregiving for another year after it began)

My name is Laurie.

I’m 52 and have been married to my high school sweetheart for over 25 years.

I’ve stayed home for the last 20 years while taking care of kids, my gram, and dogs.

Our kids are now 21, 17, and 15.

Being a mom is not for the faint of heart. Neither is caregiving.

It’s tough, in fact, I’m often sure I have what I call momentia.

That condition most moms seem to have where your mind doesn’t work like it used to.

I’m not really an overachiever, I just pretend to be one in real life.

I take on too much and can’t say no,  though my kids will tell you otherwise.

Most of the time I manage to do marginally better than a half-ass job.

I talk way too much… kinda an “over-sharer”.

I’ve spent my life being a “nice” girl and doing what I’m told.

Maybe I don’t wanna anymore sooo …

I hope my online alter-ego is going to change that.

Here I tell the truth about marriage, families, kids, parenting, women, taking care of elderly relatives, and whatever the hell else happens to show up in this crazy life of ours.

Although there are many articles that have tween and teen information, this site is designed primarily for moms who are doing what moms do…which is searching out information for our families.

Finding, researching, and worrying about what our family needs is just what moms do. So with that in mind just know that this site may include language that isn’t always family-friendly. 🤷‍♀️😉

If you haven’t been here before, head over to the START HERE page.

I hope you like it. Stay awhile. Come back. And of course, share with friends.

A while back, I decided it was time for this little blog to bring in some money.  You will see posts that have links to products I’ve found that we love.  Know that although I am an affiliate for these programs and get paid if you click the link and make a purchase,  this is at no extra cost to you.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Sometimes I might like a product so much I will email you about it, (if you’re a subscriber), especially if there’s a sale I don’t want you to miss out on.  I try to tailor the emails to only people who’ve shown interest in a particular topic before.  For our official privacy policy click here.
